Camp Spaulding Rocks!
The campaign begins…

Rebecca, age 8, sums up the essence of Camp Spaulding and the theme of our campaign to rebuild the original camp pavilion, felled by this past winter’s heavy snows and to add a much needed bathhouse on the Riverside campus.
Propelled by an exciting Challenge Grant from long time friend of Camp Spaulding, Horace Blood, CFS has begun its fund raising campaign to raise the $100,000 match to his pledge.
CFS has built the campaign around the theme Camp Spaulding Rocks! and has established a number of levels of participation for the campaign.
Diamond $10,000
Granite $6,000
Marble $3,000
Quartz $1,500
Slate $500

While no gift is too small and all are eligible to be matched dollar for dollar by Dr. Blood’s gift, those donors who participate at the Diamond, Granite and Marble levels will have their name(s) etched in our Camp Spaulding Rock-way, a path through the woods lined with large boulders leading from the Riverside to the Hillside campus.
Along with the donors’ names, each boulder will include a teaching moment for the children who walk the path daily:
Making decisions: There will always be rocks in the road ahead of us. They will be stumbling blocks or stepping stones; it all depends on how we use them.
Independence: For a tree to become tall, it must grow tough roots among the rocks!
Other donors will be acknowledged on a plaque displayed in one of the new campus buildings.
Our goal is to raise all the funds needed to build a lighted open air pavilion to accommodate larger groups of campers for indoor sporting activities like basketball, rainy day activities and with a stage at one end for evening programs that include drama, dance and talent shows. The new pavilion will be sited at the beginning of the pathway on the Riverside campus.
Secondly, we intend to build a bathhouse near the site of the original pavilion that will include showers and bathrooms and a changing area. Not only are these facilities needed for the summer program, but for the school and community groups who utilize Camp Spaulding campus during the other seasons.
If you would like to participate in the campaign, please contact the development office, 518-4130.
