Family Support and Preservation
Family Intervention Program
The Family Intervention Program (FIP) provides support services to parents with dependent children who are applying for or receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) in an effort to eliminate or reduce the harmful effects of poverty on families. These supportive services will enable adults to fully participate in the New Hampshire Employment Program (NHEP) so that they can gain skills that promote economic independence, self-sufficiency, and strengthen family life. FIP provides assessment and intervention services to identify barriers and help clients connect with community-based resources to resolve those barriers.
Eligibility: Applicants for TANF in the Manchester, Nashua and Rochester District Offices who are referred by the Family Services Specialist; NH Employment Program participants statewide who are referred by their Employment Counselor or who have received a Level 3 sanction
Areas served: Manchester, Nashua and Rochester District Offices; NHEP offices statewide

Our Goal
FIP allows CFS to support low-income families with children as they strive toward self-sufficiency and economic independence. TANF requires able-bodied people between the ages of 16 and 60 to work, attend school or take part in employment training programs for 20 to 30 hours a week. NHEP employment counselors create “employability plans” with each client and identify appropriate skill building or training programs to help them achieve their employment goals. The FIP’s goal is to connect families with resources that will help them overcome barriers to employment and prepare them for the workforce.
