Intensive Family Based Services (VT)

Overview

Integrated Family Based Services is a short term service that works to restore positive functioning in families who would benefit from a variety of coordinated services that are individualized to meet each family’s specific needs.   


Eligibility: VT Social Rehabilitative Services, and referrals from the community

Areas served:  Orange and Northern Windsor Counties, VT

Services provided

IFB assists parents, children and teens by:

  • Improving communication and problem-solving skills
  • Addressing the child’s emotional/behavioral difficulties
  • Teaching parenting skills
  • Providing substance abuse assessment and family-centered treatment
  • IFB aspires to help families find solutions to their problems and to preserve their well-being

 

Who Uses IFB?

Families with children who:

  • Exhibit difficult behaviors
  • Conflict with parents, school, community
  • Are hyperactive or have anxieties or other emotional difficulties
  • Have suffered the effects of past abuse and/or neglect
  • Or families who need help with reunification

 

Family Well-Being

IFB staff can work with families for up to 13 weeks.  We are committed to a treatment model which is:

  • Promoting positive behavior
  • Improving parental competency in nurturing positive development in their children
  • Enhancing communication skills
  • Increasing effectiveness of family meetings

  • Helping children/teens increase confidence
  • Achieving positive connections with communities 

Referrals

Families come to IFB in many ways.

They may be referred by:

  • self
  • schools
  • medical professionals
  • mental health agencies
  • social service agencies
  • social and rehabilitative services
