Elder/Independent Living
Thank you for your interest in Child and Family Service’s Home Care Program.
Our goal is to help seniors and individuals with disabilities to live at home with dignity for as long as it is safe and they choose to do so.
Services include: Cleaning, cooking, shopping, bathing, companionship, medication reminders, assistance with exercise, and ambulation.
Service area: Bedford, Goffstown, Manchester, Auburn, Candia, Hooksett. Surrounding areas will be considered depending on available resources.
Price List – Effective (Monday through Friday days)
Homemaker $18.00/hour
Big Chore $25.00/hour
Personal Care Service Provider $20.00/hour
Licensed Nursing Assistant $23.00/hour
Reduced fee for homemaking and Big Chore services is often available for clients with income of less than $1,500 a month. In addition, we offer a one hour minimum for Personal Care and LNA services as scheduling allows.
A Registered Nurse or qualified member of the supervisor team will meet with the client in his or her home to do a free assessment and to set up a personalized care plan. We are committed to obtaining and maintaining our clients trust and satisfaction by providing quality services.

Services
Homemaker Service
Includes assisting an elderly person or a younger adult living with chronic illness or disability with household management activities. Assistance with household tasks is according to a plan developed by the client and CFS program director. See "What are the roles of homemakers and companions?
Adult In-Home Care
Care and companionship for those who are in need of more extensive assistance. (Eligibility for this program is determined by the NH State Division of Elderly and Adult Services 668-2330)
Big Chore
A one-time deep cleaning of the client’s home to make their home environment a place that we can safely serve the client. This service usually requires more than one provider and may include, but is not limited to: removal of spoiled food, broken lamps, frayed electric cords, broken furniture, expired medications, clothing on floors, chairs and tub, elimination of clutter in front of exit door, washing walls and woodwork, and cleaning and replacing bed linen.
Reach
Care provided to young families coping with the serious illness of a parent or child. Experienced staff provide support to assist the family to maintain their maximum level of functioning. Services may include assistance with or teaching household management and parenting skills play with the non-ill children as well as light house cleaning and meal preparation to support the family’s ability to cope with the illness. REACH is funded entirely by designated donations raised for this purpose.
Nursing and Personal Care Providers
The CFS Home Care program includes nursing services provided by Licensed Nursing Assistants and Personal Care Service Providers. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the CFS nursing and personal care staff helps individuals to maintain their independence by assisting with essential functions such as showering and shampooing, skin care, toileting and mobility. Staff is trained to protect client rights and help clients with communication skills, safety, infection control and supervision of self-administration of medications.
What are the roles of homemakers and companions?
Homemakers and companions are dedicated, compassionate, mature and responsible. They are trained and supervised members of a professional team and carry out assigned tasks according to a personalized plan of care. They are not nurses, domestics or social workers, but they help with the following:
- Light housekeeping
- Laundry
- Plan nutritious meals
- Shop for the family or individual
- Cook for the family or individual
- Relieve families who are stressed due to illness
- Provide encouragement to those who are disabled
- Errands
- Assisting with writing and reading
- Helping with paying bills
- Making appointments

The CFS Home Care program is funded in part by a Manchester City Improvement Project grant, NH Department of Health and Human Services, the Mary Gale Foundation and the United Way.
